Namor Best Weapons in Marvel Comics Universe!
Namor Best Weapons in Marvel Comics Universe! |
As one of the first Marvel characters, Namor is well-known among fans as a figure who has a myriad of abilities. Since his debut in 1939, as the king of Atlantis, Namor has had the ability to breathe underwater, fight on land with his superpowers, and also fight in the sky with tiny wings on his ankles. As if still not strong enough, Marvel has also said that Namor has at least four mainstay weapons, each of which has its own strengths. Anything? Check out the list below, geeks!
1. Sword of Kamuu
Maybe not many fans know that Namor once had a sword weapon called the Sword of Kamuu. First described in Sub-Mariner #62 (1973), the Sword of Kamuu is a sword specially forged in the past to be used by the king of Atlantis named Kamuu. This sword has the Eye of Zartra gem on the hilt, which allows the wielder to be immune to magical powers.
Sword of Kamuu |
As the rightful heir to the royal family of Atlantis, Namor once used the Sword of Kamuu to defeat the immortal supervillain named Alaric who at that time was trying to kill the Srocerer Supreme, Doctor Strange. After the fight was over, Namor then handed Strange the Eye of Zartra as a parting gift, while he brought the Sword of Kamuu back to Atlantis.

2. Serpent Crown
The Serpent Crown is a sacred artifact from the underwater kingdom of Lemuria that is used as proof of its people's loyalty to the evil elder god named Set. As enemies of Atlantis, the kings of Lemuria, including the Dragons, often used the magic power of the Serpent Crown to attack Namor and his people. At one point, Namor is said to have obtained and used the Serpent Crown as a weapon to increase his strength.
Serpent Crown |
This snake crown does give Namor a number of extraordinary powers, including casting illusion magic, manipulating energy, and also firing enormous energy blasts. Unfortunately, because Set was intended for Set's loyal followers, Namor had fallen into Set's trick and became evil. Fortunately Namor first realized and let him go. As a reward Namor had to suffer from memory loss for quite a long time.
3. Horn of Proteus
Horn of Proteus |
The Horn of Proteus may not have an attack function like Namor's other weapons. However, of all the arsenal of Atlantis, the Horn of Proteus was the only war trumpet that allowed Namor to summon the giant whale Giganto. As a figure who is known to hate surface humans, Namor once blew the Horn of Proteus to attack New York using a Giganto in Fantastic Four #4 (1962). At that time many human victims fell, before the Fantastic Four managed to push Namor and Giganto back into the deep sea.
4. Sacred Trident of Atlantis
As the king of Atlantis, it has become a must for Namor to use the Sacred Trident of Atlantis aka Neptune's Trident weapon. However, make no mistake, this trident weapon actually holds a very extraordinary power. Including manipulating the water element and also shooting magic lasers from the tip.
Sacred Trident of Atlantis |
In the story of Avengers vs. X-Men (2012), Namor, who is equipped with the power of the Phoenix Force, once used his trident to bring Tsunami waves to Wakanda, which is the headquarters of the Avengers. At that time, many Wakandans died because they were drowned and rolled by the waves. Where it marks the beginning of the eternal conflict between Atlantis and Wakanda.
Those are the four main weapons of Namor the Sub-Mariner that he has used on several occasions in the Marvel Universe. All of these weapons still exist in the Marvel Universe, and three of them are still held by Namor, except for the Serpent Crown. With all these weapons it's pretty clear that Namor is one of the deadliest kings on Earth. Because he could at any time bring a tsunami wave or summon Giganto to destroy the surface.
THANK YOU.
