Various Mysteries Batman Failed to Solve in comics

In DC history, Batman is a veteran superhero with experience and a collection of countless villains. Apart from being famous as one of Gotham's vigilantes who has the largest fanbase in the real world, this character whose real name is Bruce Wayne is also dubbed the World's Greatest Detective, aka the best detective on Earth. One of the reasons is because Batman's deduction abilities are far sharper than ordinary humans. But do you know geeks, behind his mesmerizing actions there are several mysteries that once made Batman give up!

The Most Mysterious Riddler Riddles

In one of the comic stories of The Batman Adventures entitled 'The Last Riddler Story', Batman was once faced with a tough mystery originating from one of Gotham's smartest villains, Edward Nygma aka the Riddler. It all started when the Riddler decided to retire with one condition, namely Batman must be able to solve his final puzzle.

Long story short when the two met, the Riddler forced Batman to answer "What has wings but can't fly, has arms but no hands, and has eyes but can't see?" Batman, whose mind was deadlocked, finally chose a shortcut by directly beating up the Riddler and throwing him into prison. It was at this point that the Riddler knew he had a long way to go as a villain. What's the answer to the riddle, Geeks?

Holiday Serial Killer Identity

The next mystery that Batman never managed to solve is the identity of the 'second' villain Holliday in the comic Batman: The Long Halloween. Even though the victims are random, Holiday himself is known as a serial killer who will only carry out his actions on red dates on the calendar. After using his above-average deduction skills, Batman deduces that the person behind Holiday's identity is Alberto Falcone, son of Gotham's mafia leader Carmine Falcone. According to the villain Two Face, there are actually two people who have become Holiday, but Batman seems unable to figure out who the second serial killer is.

Robin Parents Death

Before becoming the first Robin, Dick Grayson was a young man who worked as a Trapeze circus player with his parents. That is why Dick is so good at jumping and swinging at great heights. When his parents mysteriously died, he met Bruce Wayne, who treated him as an adopted son. Behind Robin's origin, it turns out that Batman has secretly tried to reveal the death of Dick's parents, nicknamed The Flying Grayson. But the comic story Batman #691, indicates that Batman has never managed to reveal the full truth about the murder.

Hush Hatred Motivation for Him

When the comic Batman: Hush slowly introduced a new nemesis for Batman named Hush, many fans were very curious about the true identity and motivations of this villain. The same thing was felt by Batman who later managed to reveal that Hush was none other than his childhood friend named Tommy Elliot.

But when Batman tries to deduce the motivations for Hush's crimes, he seems to hit a dead end. Although initially it was thought that Hush's motivation was caused by his grudge against the Wayne family because Bruce's father had failed to save his father, it turns out that the accident was indeed carried out by a future version of Hush. Whatever efforts he has made, until now Batman has never known for certain the mystery behind Hush's reason for hating only himself.

Joker Real Identity in the Main Universe

Talking about Batman's eternal enemy in the DC Universe, everyone will immediately remember him by one name, namely the Joker. But to this day, Joker's true identity is still one of the biggest mysteries that Batman has never been able to solve. Unlike Hush, whose motivation is still unclear, Joker's reason for having ambitions for Batman is actually very clear, because he does have insane thoughts.

As for the real identity of the Clown Prince of Crime, Batman has even deliberately used the Mobius Chair cosmic database to find out who the Joker really is. However, the results even complicate Batman's deduction as a detective, because it turns out that in the main universe itself there are at least three anonymous Jokers who have 'colored' his life for a long time.

That's the biggest and toughest thing Batman has ever tried to solve, but to no avail. Whether because he no longer considers it important or because it is too difficult for him, in the end the World's Greatest Detective tends to leave all these mysteries behind and chooses to focus more on the problems in front of him. DC itself seems to have deliberately left these mysteries untouched, and left its fans with only speculations without ever getting official confirmation at least to this day.
