8 Namor Enemies in the Marvel Universe!
8 Namor Enemies in the Marvel Universe! |
Known as Marvel's anti-hero, Namor will soon be making his MCU debut in the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In the film later, Namor (Tenoch Huerta) will be the main antagonist who attacks Wakanda with its underwater nation, Talokan aka Atlantis the MCU version. The story of the film itself seems to be inspired by the eternal feud between Atlantis and Wakanda in the Marvel Universe. Well, that's why, before the film's release, this time we will discuss who actually has been Namor's eternal enemy in the comics. Curious? Check it out below, geeks!
1. Attuma
Attuma |
Apart from Namor, Attuma has also been confirmed to appear in the Wakanda Forever film. However, it seems that in his first appearance he will still be an ally of the Sub-Mariner, unlike in Marvel Comics. Where Attuma is famous as Namor's mortal enemy who has repeatedly tried to seize his throne in Atlantis. In the story of Atlantis Attack, Attuma even actually managed to become the King of Atlantis because the Atlanteans chose him over Namor. Namor only managed to reclaim his power after the Avengers helped him to defeat Attuma.
2. Krang
Krang |
Krang is an Atlantean military commander, who finally decides to betray and become Namor's enemy because he wants to be the king of Atlantis. Known as Krang the Usurper, aka the Usurper of Power, in the Fantastic Four Annual #1 comic, he did manage to occupy the throne of Atlantis when Namor was not around, before Namor finally returned and succeeded in overthrowing him. Instead of expelling him, Namor instead gave a fairly high position to Krang in the Atlantis military. The reason is because Namor wants all his enemies to always be within his reach.

3. Mister Fantastic
Mr. Fantastic |
The feud between Namor and Reed Richards aka Mister Fantastic is actually more because of love problems. Because secretly it turns out that Namor and Reed's wife, Sue Storm aka Invisible Girl, had an affair for quite a long time. Even when Reed finds out about their illicit relationship in Fantastic Four #407, Namor says he will love Sue forever and tries to get rid of her. This is what ultimately makes them enemies, where Namor often tries to find opportunities to reconnect with Sue.
4. Doctor Doom
Doctor Doom |
In Marvel Comics, Namor and Doctor Doom are two characters who are equally strong and have a unique relationship. Besides often seen working together, on other occasions, Doom is also quite often told to be Namor's enemy. Like in the Fantastic Four #6 comic, where Doom initially invited Namor to work together to defeat the Fantastic Four. But on the eve of their defeat, Doom betrayed him and left Namor alone. Since then Namor is often seen fighting with Doom when he finds the right opportunity.
5. Llyra
Liyra |
Llyra is one of Namor's first enemies from the underwater kingdom of Lemuria. The reason why he often interfered with Namor's life was because Llyra loved him very much. With her shapeshifting ability, Llyra once disguised herself as Dorma in Sub-Mariner #37, to get Namor to marry her. Then in another story, Llyra was also told as the person responsible for the death of Dorma who at that time had become the queen of Atlantis. From this point on, Namor never wanted to forgive Llyra and remembered her as one of the enemies of Atlantis.

6. Master Khan
Master Khan |
In the story of Namor: The Sub-Mariner, Namor was told that he accidentally met the supervillain Master Khan who was planning to take over the world. Instead of killing him, Master Khan, instead chose to erase all of Namor's memories and take everything he owned, including his wealth that was on the surface. For more than ten years, Namor did not remember his true identity as the king of Atlantis. After his memory returned, Namor finally got the chance to avenge Master Khan by killing him.
7. Black King
Black King |
Sebastian Shaw aka Black King is the leader of a team of mutant supervillains called the Hellfire Club. In the comic Uncanny X-Men Annual #2, Black King once purposely sent Frost to tempt Namor into joining his team. This method proved successful, because in the end Namor did fall in love with Frost and wanted to strengthen the Hellfire team. However, when Frost truly falls in love with him, the Black King erases his memories and sends the Sentinels to attack Atlantis. This led Namor to declare undying enmity with the Black King and Hellfire.
8. Black Panther
Black Panther |
Of the many eternal enemies of Namor, perhaps Black Panther is the one who fights with him the most. What's worse, their feud even developed into hostility between the countries they lead, Wakanda and Atlantis. In the story of Avengers vs. X-Men, Namor with the power of the Phoenix Force even deliberately sent a tsunami to flatten Wakanda. As a counterattack, Black Panther had also sent a bomb to Atlantis to destroy the Namor kingdom. Their feud only ended after the multiverse was destroyed by the incursion event.
Those are Namor's eight mortal enemies in the Marvel Universe. Seeing the status of siding with his various enemies, ranging from supervillain to superhero, it makes sense that Namor is finally more famous as an anti-hero. Since he didn't care whether it was good or bad, the most important thing for Namor was to defend his pride as well as Atlantis in front of everyone. If someone hurts his pride, then he will consider that person as his enemy. We'll see, who will be Namor's next new enemies??
THANK YOU.
