Why Michael Keaton Batman Is Important in The Flash! |
There are certain reasons why Batman is an important figure in The Flash in the DC Universe, especially Michael Keaton's version of Batman. The appearance of two versions of Batman in The Flash film is indeed one of the big surprises presented in the story of The Flash in the film. The two versions of Batman that will appear in the film are Ben Affleck's and Michael Keaton's.
Why then there can be two Batman in one film can be explained simply, namely because Barry Allen changed the timeline in the DC Universe. The appearance of the Batman figure for some fans may be nostalgia or something extraordinary presented by Andy Muschietti. However, on the other hand, this also strengthens the connection between Barry Allen and Bruce Wayne. Why then is Batman important in the story of The Flash?

Batman And The Flash Relationship in DCU
So far, Ben Affleck's Batman is the only member of the Justice League confirmed to appear in The Flash's film. In the DC cinematic universe, Batman is known to have a very strong connection with the figure of Flash. Although, indeed Barry Allen later met Barry Allen in the Justice League film.
The moment of "meeting" between Barry Allen and Bruce Wayne himself actually happened since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. It is said that Flash is one of the few Justice League survivors from Darkseid's invasion of Earth in the Knightmare timeline in the film. Barry then tries to change that.
He then created the Cosmic Treadmill to go back in time and attempt to warn Bruce Wayne. Barry tries to warn Bruce that Lois Lane is the key to all the disasters that are happening. Preventing Lois from dying would prevent Knightmare's moment from happening in the timeline.
Unfortunately, Barry was too fast to make Bruce Wayne confused about what was really going on. Bruce Wayne also then opened Lex's metahuman data and saw the greatness of Barry's strength. All of that then becomes the reason why in the Justice League movie it appears that Bruce Wayne is already familiar with all things about Barry Allen.
Batman still doesn't fully understand how Barry Allen got his powers and how these powers work. However, Bruce could be sure that Barry was the one who had given him a warning. This is also what makes Batman appear to be trying to protect Barry Allen in the Justice League movie.
Also, speaking from another side of the character, Barry is the youngest member of the Justice League. Historically, Batman has always worked with people much younger than his age, such as Dick Grayson or Jason Todd. In other words, Bruce has always tried to be a mentor to Barry.

Two DC Epic Heroes
Bruce Wayne as a mentor for Barry Allen may indeed only occur in the DC cinematic universe. Even so, in the comic strip itself Batman and Flash do have a strong connection as members of the Justice League or as heroes. Barry and Bruce were both orphaned by a tragic tragedy when they were children.
The tragedy equally made both of them what we know today. What's also interesting is that the members of the Justice League usually contain aliens, cyborgs, descendants of gods, and so on. They are strong figures who have had strength from the start. They are hard to beat.
However, Batman and the Flash show different things where both are two of the few human characters who join the team of heroes. In fact, the Flash is "above" Batman in that he has superhuman strength. One proof of the connection or closeness between Barry and Bruce can be seen in the Flashpoint comic, which inspired the film.
After Barry changed the existing timeline after trying to prevent his mother's death, he was involved in the storyline of Bruce Wayne's life. He meets Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father who becomes Batman in a different timeline. Barry also even brought a letter written by Thomas to Bruce which made Bruce cry.
Because of this Bruce praised the figure of Barry as "an extraordinary messenger." This connection between Bruce and Barry was later shown again in the film The Flash. The trailer shows how Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne tries to protect Barry by preventing him from doing what he's planning.
According to him, what Barry did was not only changing the timeline but destroying the timeline itself. Then, when Barry had already done it, he met Michael Keaton's version of Batman. After explaining what happened, Keaton's version of Bruce Wayne actually tries to help Barry fix everything.
Of course, it will be interesting to see the collaboration and relationship between Barry and Bruce Wayne in The Flash. The film could be the "last" moment that shows the moment of closeness between the two heroes before then everything is changed again from the beginning. So, why is Batman important to The Flash? He was a mentor figure to Barry Allen. Batman is also the savior of Barry Allen's life, because with the help of Batman Barry tries to return all the mess he made back to how it was before.
THANK YOU.
