Here are 5 Black Captain America in the Marvel Comics Universe!

Among Marvel fans, Captain America is known as one of the superheroes whose patriotic spirit may be unmatched. Always wearing a 'stars and stripes' costume inspired by the American flag and carrying an iconic shield made of adamantium, Steve Rogers is one of the Captain Americas who always fights for the values of freedom and democracy. But besides Steve, there are also other heroic figures who used to be Captain America, including several black characters. Here are five Black Captain Americas that exist in the Marvel Universe!

Isaiah Bradley

Debuting in the comic Truth: Red, White & Black (2002), Isaiah Bradley is arguably one of the victims of the aftermath of the disappearance of Steve Rogers in the middle of World War II. Because America and its allies felt they needed a new super soldier, they then carried out various heinous experiments on hundreds of African Americans which eventually made Isaiah the first Black Captain America in the Marvel Universe. Long story short after carrying out his final mission with his own version of the Captain America costume and shield, Isaiah was sworn to secrecy about his old life. It's sad that when he got old, Isaiah's body and mind were slowly damaged due to the effects of the super serum he used.

Josiah al hajj Saddiq

Josiah all hajj Saddiq is the biological child of Isaiah and Faith Bradley whose birth has been kept secret from the government. The character who made his debut in the Marvel comic titled Crew #1 (2003) is known as the second Black Captain America because he inherited super soldier DNA from his father even though he was not involved in government experiments. Just like Steve and Isaiah, Josiah's main strength lies in his extraordinary physical strength. Where when growing up he was more often seen in action while wearing his father's costume and shield, but more comfortable with the identity of Josiah X. Currently he is also known as a minister as well as a Muslim activist in America.

Theories About Shanks and the Revolutionary Army Have Different Plans

Sam Wilson

Unlike the two previous super soldiers, Sam Wilson is Black Captain America whose status is officially and openly recognized by the government. The reason is because Steve Rogers himself appointed the former superhero Falcon as his successor by giving him his beloved adamantium shield in Captain America Vol. 7 #25 (2014). As the most popular Black Captain America in the Marvel Universe, Sam doesn't need super soldier serum at all to act. In fact from the start he was quite good with his flying skills. In the live action version of the MCU itself, it is confirmed that next year Sam will have his own film titled Captain America: New World Order.

Samantha Wilson

Samantha Wilson is the next Black Captain America who exists in the Marvel alternate universe, Earth-65 to be precise, which is home to Spider-Gwen. His story begins when he becomes the subject of the super soldier experiment 'Project: Rebirth' during World War II. In this alternate universe, Peggy Carter is told to be attracted to Samantha because at that time she was known as a smart student. As the only successful super soldier, Samantha then became Captain America wearing the 'stars and stripes' costume and carrying an iconic shield, to defeat the evil organization Hydra and face supervillains like Baron Zemo and Red Skull.

Danielle Cage

First told in the comic Avengers: Ultron Forever #1 (2015), Danielle Cage is a Black Captain America who exists in the alternate universe of Marvel Earth-15061. Unlike Captain America, who is usually a super soldier, Danielle is a pure metahuman who inherited her strength from her parents, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. With her intelligence, physical strength, and immunity, Daniella didn't continue her parents' superhero identity, but instead chose to become Captain America. Even so, just like Luke and Jessica, he also ends up being a valuable asset for the Avengers superhero team in his universe.

Those are the five Black Captain Americas who wear the 'stars and stripes' costume and have their own shield in the Marvel Universe. The five characters who have unique and complex stories can be said to have succeeded in representing their relatively minor groups in Marvel, such as the black community and even Muslims. And what's even more amazing, these Black Captain Americas have also shown how important diverse representations are in the world of superhero comics. Of the five black Captain Americas, which one is your favourite, geeks?
