Besides the Guardians of Galaxy Team, Here's Another Super Team from Star Lord! |
First making his debut in 2004 in Thanos #8, Peter Quill aka Star Lord is an extraterrestrial superhero known as one of the founders of the Guardians of the Galaxy team. The same thing applies to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is currently showing the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 in theaters. But do you know geeks, even though he is known as the leader of the Guardians, Star Lord also turns out to have an interesting history with several other space groups. Here are five Star Lord super teams apart from the Guardians in the Marvel Universe!
Ravagers
Just like in the MCU, before forming the Guardians super team, Star Lord had previously joined the extraterrestrial crime gang Ravagers. The difference is that in the Marvel Universe, Star Lord joined the Ravagers only when he was a teenager, to be precise when he decided to go to outer space because he was fed up with his home planet Earth. It was at the Ravagers that he met Yondu for the first time and often clashed with him and even fought with him. After going through many events and getting to know space a little better, Star Lord finally decided to leave the Ravagers and find his own path.
Imperial Guard
In the Marvel Universe, the Imperial Guard is the name for the elite team of the Shi'ar Galactic Empire, known as the conquering alien nation. Although often depicted as an antagonist team in various Marvel stories, the Imperial Guard has also been told to recruit Star Lords. It all started with a meeting between the leader of the Imperial Guard named Gladiator and the Star Lord in Klyn. It was at this point that Gladiator, who was interested in the Star Lord's persistence, then invited him to join the Imperial Guard to then together face Thanos and the Fallen One who were threatening Shi'ar and the galaxy as a whole. After the mission the Star Lord immediately came out too.

United Front
Not long after leaving the Imperial Guard and becoming known as the Star Lord in the galaxy, the next super team that recruited Peter Quill was United Front, consisting of Drax, Gamora, Talos, and Ronan. The team formed by Nova is deliberately prepared to face the threat of the cosmic supervillain Annihilus and his allies who are trying to conquer the galaxy in the 'Annihlation Wave' event. After they defeated the supervillains Annihilus, Ultron, and Phalanx, Star Lord again decided to leave the team. Armed with all the experience he had before, Star Lord finally dared to form his own team which he named the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Infinity Watch
In the events of the comic 'Infinity Wars', Star Lord was also told to join another super team called Infinity Watch. It all started with Doctor Strange's efforts to guard the Time Stone, summoning all the other Infinity Stone keepers including Star Lord who at that time was assigned by Nova Corps to protect the Power Stone. They then agreed to try their best to keep the Inifnity Stone away from the hands of bad people, especially Thanos who was very ambitious to seize it. Even though the mission was very difficult, thanks to the help of the Cosmic Avengers and a number of other superheroes, Star Lord and Infinity Watch finally succeeded in defeating Thanos while protecting the galaxy.
Defenders
The last super team ever to be part of the history of the Star Lords in the Marvel Universe is the Defenders. The difference is that with other super teams, Star Lord's involvement with the Defenders takes place in an alternative universe, to be precise in the comic version of 'Age of Ultron' which was released in 2013. Where the emergence of this team began when Wolverine went to the past to kill Hank Pym so that Ultron would not born. As a result, the future of the world has changed, where the Avengers have never existed and instead the Defenders are tasked with protecting Earth. The Star Lord's appearance in Defenders looks a little different with the glasses and part of the mask that is open.
Those are the five super teams apart from the Guardians of the Galaxy that were once the 'home' for Star Lord. Almost all the teams that Star Lord participates in are based in outer space, because in truth he is not Earth's superhero like the others. It's also the reason why Star Lord was never part of the Avengers or X-Men which focused more on Earth events. Although for very rare cases, he has also joined the Defenders in an alternate universe.
THANK YOU.
